Consumer Data Reveals High Demand for Christmas Trees and a Preference for Early Holiday Shopping
Baby, it’s hot outside but consumers should use Christmas in July to plan early, shop now, and embrace the Christmas spirit, according to the American Christmas Tree Association
Sacramento, CA – July 24, 2024 – Recent consumer data reveals high demand for Christmas trees and a preference for early holiday shopping. According to The American Christmas Tree Association's (ACTA) 2024 Consumer Report, 99 percent of consumers intend to display at least one Christmas tree in their homes this year. Of these consumers, nearly 80 percent will choose an artificial Christmas tree, and 22 percent will opt for a live tree.
“We are encouraged to see that consumer demand for all types of Christmas trees remains high in 2024,” said Jami Warner, ACTA Executive Director. “Artificial, live, small, tall, flocked, you name it – there’s no such thing as a bad Christmas tree. We recommend that consumers plan and shop now to find the décor, type, and style of Christmas tree, or trees, that best fits their lifestyle.”
The findings also show that of consumers who shop early in the year, more than 80 percent do so to secure better deals.
“Americans are facing tight budgets in 2024, so many consumers are planning ahead to purchase their holiday décor,” said Warner. “Our message to consumers is this: Use this Christmas in July to take stock of existing holiday décor items, make a shopping list for the Christmas season, and take advantage of pre-season deals now.”
As consumers prepare for this year's holiday season, ACTA's #HowToHoliday Christmas in July Guide provides a helpful resource to assist with holiday shopping needs. The guide includes a printable décor checklist to keep track of Christmas decorations and information on Christmas tree storage, cleaning, care, and upcoming Christmas décor trends for 2024.
"We want every consumer to have everything they want and need this season," said Warner. “Whether you spend your Christmas in July decorating with nostalgic, timeless decorations or shopping for the perfect Christmas tree, why wait to start enjoying the Christmas spirit?”
